9Gbps Internet Anybody?

Internet2 smashed 2 word records for data transmission speeds within 24 hours, sending data over a distance of 20,000 miles first at 7.67Gbps (gigabits per second) using standard communications methods, then at 9.08Gbps using IPv6 protocols. Internet2 or UCAID (University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development) is an American consortium dedicated to proving really fast piracy. No indication on how long it’s going to be before we hit this kind of speed on home broadband, but they do mention ‘a new network with a capacity of 100Gbps.’

Vodafone to provide Myspace on your Mobile

Big news from the Vodaphone camp today, as they announced that its customers would soon be able to access and update their MySpace profile using your mobile phones.

MySpace said that this exclusive deal marks their first step into the European mobile marketplace.

Launching first in the UK, the partnership will enable Vodafone customers to access MySpace Mobile, allowing them to edit their own MySpace profiles, find and add friends, post photos and blogs and send and receive MySpace messages while on the move. Read more
