Review: Samsung YP-T9

So Apple are the undisputed kings of the MP3 player market with millions of iPods in use across the UK and indeed the world – Microsoft looks set to challenge this dominance with the Zune but we like choice and we believe Samsung has something to offer.

We recently covered the launch of the Samsung music store (SMS) and two new MP3 players, one of which we have had the pleasure of testing for the past week. So out the window went the Nano and into the recycle bin went iTunes, stepping up to the plate to fill the void, was the smooth looking YP-T9.

So straight out of the bag we note that the stylish Samsung offering is smaller than the Nano (83 x 42.6 x 11 mm), weighs in at only 49g and boasts a significantly larger 1.8-inch. On closer inspection the YP-T9 impresses further, packed solid with a range of features it is clear the word ‘compromise’ didn’t even figure into the making of this device and has a good solid battery life (about 30hrs). Rumor: 2nd Generation UMPC

Gossip is what we love… and so when we got wind of the Samsung Q2 UMPC we just had to share with you all.

So the first generation UMPC on the whole were a little disappointing, however Samsungs Q1 seemed to make a good first impression and so almost a year to the date it was announced Samsung look set to announce its succesor the Q2 and boy are we in for a treat.

At first glance the geek sheet [courtesy of Engadget] makes for interesting reading… sporting a yet to be confirmed Intel CPU (although not the rumoured VIA) the Q2 will run Vista Home Premium. Read more

Style on a budget…

In the past the terms ‘gadget’ and ‘geek’ have been synonymous with one another – no more as a growing army of fashion crazed boys and gals demand the latest tech…

So we tried to fain shock and surprise but we just couldn’t when we heard about the latest slimmer than slim clam, shell mobile from Samsung designed by Miss Sixty, the Lily.

The white clamshell phone set against a purple background and has a floral motif which lights up when the phone rings – so definitely one for the gadget girls of the world. Read more
